Power Failure

Parkway North Center is designed to minimize the risk of a general power failure resulting from causes within the property. Typically, should a power failure occur, it will affect either an isolated area of the property or some larger portion of the surrounding geographic area.

Parkway North Center is equipped with emergency generators which turn on automatically and generate power to various areas of the buildings. All suites and public areas are equipped with independently powered exit signs and emergency lights, which will remain lit in a general power failure. If an electrical failure does occur, the following guidelines should be observed:

  • Call the Building Management Office at (847) 597-2350 to report the power failure.
  • Open blinds to let in outside light.
  • Colliers will notify you regarding the length and cause of the power failure as soon as information is available. Please stay in your suite; do not congregate in lobby areas.

If you are trapped in an elevator during a power failure, do not panic. The elevator will temporarily cease operation, but it will not fall. Elevators will automatically recall to the first floor as soon as the emergency generator provides power. Do not try to open the doors or exit through the roof hatch. Locate the elevator phone, pick up the handset and you will be connected to Parkway North Security. Notify them of your situation and they will inform the engineering staff.
